Goal Achievement: How to Get Started and Stop Stopping

You’ve got this BIG dream that you’ve been pursuing but for some reason you have not made the progress you were hoping you would’ve by now. It’s May, and you’re beginning to feel a bit discouraged. You want to achieve your goals, but you keep stopping. You started out strong and then along the way you loss momentum, you slowed down and became inconsistent. You’ve reached a point where you’re considering giving up entirely.. You’ve have thoughts like: Maybe I’m just not cut out for this. Maybe it’s not meant for me after all..

I know it doesn’t look good right now! You’ve experienced a setback and it’s hard to envision yourself bouncing back. But hear me on this.. 2020 is still YOUR year! Your GOAL is still worth pursuing. And, you are STILL more than capable! You were created with PURPOSE and God has a divine plan for your life. The Corona-virus or any other setback cannot CANCEL God’s will for your life. He has plans to give you a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29: 11 – 13). The setback you are experiencing in your life is temporary. Delayed does not mean denied. God gave you that passion and assigned purpose to your life. Don’t count yourself out, because you’ve slowed down or contemplated stopping. If you’ve stopped, it’s not too late to begin again.

I’m not here to just motivate or encourage you. I am here to give you practical tips for creating a SHIFT in your life. You don’t have to STOP. Here’s what you can do to KEEP going.

The top reasons people STOP or FAIL to START are:

Fear

Perfectionism

Waiting for a right time

AND

Not having an action plan/strategy

Some of us STOP or fail to get started often because of a combination of reasons. Maybe it’s fear or perfectionism.. But, I believe it is most commonly combined with not having the RIGHT PLAN. Not having the right plan is like having a destination in mind, somewhere you’ve never traveled before and just idoly wandering with no clue as to how you’re going to get there. Here this! YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO DO MORE THAN “JUST WINGING IT” when it comes to the pursuit of your dreams.

A real plan is when you have identified where you’re going, what you need to get there, how you’re going to get there and what you will do if/when something doesn’t quite go as plan A.. what is your plan B, C or D. You can create a strategy that will help you to STOP stopping OR that will encourage you START!

Here’s how:

IF you really want to STOP stopping, the first thing you need to do is go back to the drawing board and ask yourself these questions:

Does my goal reflect my dream?

Remember, your goal(s) are just a break down (steps) leading towards the ultimate dream (the big picture). If your goals are not in alignment with the ultimate dream, then you are just doing “busy work” that will lead to burnout and lack of motivation very quickly.

Is my goal big enough?

What is my WHY factor? (Why do I want to achieve this goal? What will happen if I do not achieve this goal? What will happen/change WHEN I achieve my goal?)

Figure out why you keep stopping. Take time to analyze where you are at, why you keep stopping and then for each reason, brainstorm possible alternate routes/solutions. You should never give up on you goals without exploring other options first.

Create a support system by:

Getting an accountability partner, coach or mentor.

AND

Utilizing calendars/planers, habit trackers or lists and write out your goals daily, to remind you of your goals and to hold yourself accountable.

By completing each of the steps above, you can CREATE a STRATEGY to slay your goals without STOPPING. And, life happens, so if you do stop, if you create the RIGHT plan, you should feel comfortable enough to pick-up where you left off and keep going.

I’m just trying to help someone to KEEP GOING, because I know it gets rough and tough out here sometimes. WE are all experiencing setbacks in these uncertain times and have had to pivot and adjust to what is quickly becoming our new normal.

It may not be easy to start OR to keep going, but I promise you, with the RIGHT strategy you CAN and when you do, it will be worth it!

How to Finally Achieve Your Goals

92% of people who set New Year goals don’t achieve them. That means only 8% do. Are you a part of the 8%? If not, what can you do to change that?

Many people set goals. Not all see them through to completion. I am on a mission to empower as many people as I can, to not just clarify and set their goal, but to pursue it and see it through to completion. Often times, we start out strong but for a variety of reasons we get stuck or give up. We do a good job at focusing on the reasons WHY NOT. But, we don’t put as much energy into identifying a solution. So, I’ve told you that I’m on a mission right? To empower as many people as I can to pursue and achieve their 2020 goals. I will do this by providing an opportunity; an opportunity to learn THEE strategy to clarify, set and achieve your 2020 goals. Once you learn the strategy, you will be able to use it over and over and over again.. No matter how big or small your goal APPEARS to be, the strategy works. How so? Because the strategy I wish to share with you IS flexible. It allows you to embrace trial and error, but provides the support and foundation you need to see your goal through to completion. I am a certified Goal Success Coach. But, I will be the first to tell you that you don’t just need a goal. You need to clarify and set the right kind of goal AND you need a STRATEGY. And, not just any strategy, you need the RIGHT strategy.

I have discovered and outlined a strategy that has worked for me and has allowed me to achieve many of my goals! The reason I say MANY of my goals is because some of my goals are still a work in progress, but I am well on my way to achieving them, because I am still actively pursuing them. The reason many people fail to achieve their goals, is not because it’s impossible, but because they STOP pursuing the goal. The strategy I have outlined will help you keep going when you “feel stuck.” I am ready to share THEE strategy with YOU!

  • Moved out of my parents home into my 1rst apartment paying $900+ just for rent + other expnses while working less than 40 hours a week making $10 an hour
  • Overcame shyness and fear of public speaking
  • Became more confident
  • Learned to manage my depression and anxiety in a healthy way

Listen, it doesn’t matter how small or insignificant your goals may seem to anyone else. If IT matters to you, then it IS a goal worth pursuing and achieving!

Now, you may be wondering why I’d dare to share my strategy so freely, when I’m a coach launching a coaching business. I’ll tell you why. Even with the RIGHT strategy, sometimes you need SUPPORT in the form of a human. Yeah, I said it. Some of us need a coach, mentor, accountability partner.. someone! Not, just some THING to help you on your pursuit. And, I realize that not everybody has somebody in their corner giving the right balance of cheering them on and holding them accountable. As a Goal Success Coach, that is what I’ve been trained to do. So, I’m not worried out THEE Strategy or not so secret “Secret” being out there. Many people will “know” the strategy, but won’t implement the strategy without someone to hold them accountable. 3 Ways to Prep for 2020

It’s the most wonderful time of year! We’ve got a lot of holidays to keep us occupied over the remaining weeks left in the year. With Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Christmas right around the corner, I promise, time is going to fly by and before you know it, we’ll be clinkin’ glasses and ringing in the new year! If you’re anything like me, you love this time of year and may even get caught up in the holiday festivities. You may even find it extra challenging to maintain focus on the one thing that has remained constant throughout the year, holiday or no holiday, and that of course is maintaining a healthy life balance. So, as we head into the most wonder time of year, let’s not have new years day, or rather – the day after new years, sneak up on us! Let’s set ourselves up for success now, so that we’re ready to jump in and slay our goals in 2020!

Listen, we have what it takes to slay our goals all year long in 2020! It doesn’t mean that we won’t experience setbacks or make mistakes from time to time, but it means that if we give ourselves the best shot at being successful, then the chances of us slaying a majority of the goals we set will be higher than those who fail to do so. That being said, I have a few tips to share with you, to help you prep for 2020. I want you to walk into the new year confident in your God given ability to slay your goals! You have what it takes, but you’ve got to do the work, to prepare – give yourself the best shot to be successful. Get in position. Get in alignment. Here are 3 ways to do just that.

1. Reflect on 2019 – Spend some time reflecting on 2019. Be honest with yourself about everything. There are many ways you can do this.My recommendation, is to write out a list of all the goals you set out to accomplish at the beginning of the year. Then, create 2 more lists, like a pro’s and con’s list, only with goals you accomplished vs goals you did not accomplish. Think about all the highs, lows, setbacks, progress and lessons learned throughout the year. Embrace it all, no matter how much you did or didn’t accomplish. As you wrap up your reflection, be sure to end on a positive note. You can do this through meditation or journaling even. However you choose to do this, be sure to focus all your thoughts and energy on the positive aspects of your 2019; realizing that 2020 is a gift and opportunity to pursue and achieve all the goals you’ve yet to achieve. Be real with yourself, but don’t be too hard on yourself, if you know what I mean.

2. Get clear on what you want to achieve in 2020. Piggy-backing off of step one, you’ll want to make sure you have a clear vision of what you want to achieve in 2020, because everything that you proceed to do after your goals have been set, should be in alignment with what you desire to achieve. In may sound redundant or silly, but ironically most people fail to get what they want out of life, because they don’t have a clear vision of what it is that they really want to begin with. Let’s make up in our minds now, that in 2020, we are going to be decisive! Even if we are unsure about what move we should make, what step we should take next.. We are going to move with confidence. So, make sure you identify exactly what you want to achieve in 2020, set clear goals and then identify your WHY factor. This is an extremely important piece to the puzzle. Most people miss this. But, I’m telling you, you’re going to want to identify your why. Know the reason why you want to achieve the goals you have set. Here’s why: Your WHY factor will be your motivating factor. Motivation is temporary, if it is not your WHY. Your WHY is going to be your lifeline, it will keep you going when the going gets tough. It will remind you why you should do whatever it takes to pursue you goal, regardless of what it takes to do so.

3. Deep clean your territory! When you deep clean your home, what do you do? You don’t just tidy up.. No, you throw out the trash, you straighten things up, you put things where they belong, you scrub, you wash, you sanitize, you reorganize and you may even redecorate! Before you enter the new year, make sure you detox your territory. Remove distractions and hinderances, detox your social circle; whether it’s on social media or in person. So, if you need to unfollow and unfriend some people on social media, do it. Anyone or anything that is tearing you down, instead of building you up, create distance. Whatever is making you feel bad about yourself, discouraging you, holding you back, you know what or who it is.. create
distance! We’ve gotta enter the new year with an attitude of gratitude and positive vibes only. Why? Because we attract whatever is operating on the wave length of our reccuring thought patterns. But, that’s a whole other blog post topic, we’ll save that for another day.

When it comes to your 2020 goals, you need to be all in. But, first you’ve got to be honest with yourself. You’ve got to reflect, know what you want and why! Then, set a SMART goal and make sure you’ve distanced yourself from known stumbling blocks. Do yourself a favor, set yourself up for success. Give yourself your best shot at slaying your goals ALL year long! The steps listed above will help IF you take honest – action.

Before the Year Ends..🎯🎯🎯

Can you believe we are less than 2 months away from 2020!? I can hardly believe it. And, you know what? This is the perfect time to reflect on 2019 and to prepare for the new year. You know, many people wait until January 1rst to set their new goals and resolutions, but really, you should be starting now. Don’t wait, get your game plan together and start executing now. Why? Because when you start early, you’re operating under a different kind of mindset. A success “growth” mindset. I know it may not seem like it, but it makes a different. It’s the same idea, as waking up an hour our two earlier than your “normal” wake-up time. When you wake up early, you have time to grab that cup of coffee, pray or meditate, have a few moments to yourself, plan your day, create your to do list, etc. It’s the same idea with this.. start preparing for 2020 now!
