Conquer Your Limiting Beliefs

The human mind is a battle field. Every day we are tempted with negative thoughts and challenging situations. Some days we fight and conquer, other days we succumb. Many people live day to day without the realization that it is up to them to fight and conquer their limitations and limiting beliefs.

IF we want to SLAY our goals, we must make the conscious decision to confront and conquer our limitations and limiting beliefs, every day.

I am going to share with you HOW you can begin to SHIFT and TRANSFORM your mindset; from a negative to a positive success “growth” mindset, that will position you to confront and conquer your limitations and limiting belief.

A limitation is anything that serves as an excuse, to justify not taking strategic action to pursue your goals. Example: I don’t have enough time or money to start my business.

Limiting beliefs are negative thoughts that you allow to justify not taking strategic action to pursue your goals. Example: I am not good enough or qualified for people to take me seriously.

Here are the facts about Limitations & Limiting Beliefs:

We ALL battle negative thoughts and challenging situations everyday.

It is within our control to combat negative thoughts and to perceive our challenging situations in a positive way.

It is possible, but it also takes practice to attain and maintain a positive mindset and optimistic perspective in life.

A positive success “growth” mindset and an optimistic perspective in life WILL help you attract and take action (steps) that are in direct alignment with the goals you wish to achieve. It will also help you ATTRACT more positive opportunities and experiences into your life.

No matter how positive/optimistic you are, you will still confront negative thoughts and challenging situations. BUT you will be better equipt to GROW through it, because of the positive success “growth” mindset that you have.

A positive success “growth” mindset will allow you to SEE your challenges (negative situations), setbacks, etc. as a learning opportunity, as a setup in disguise, an opportunity to recalibrate, to realign and more.

You decide, each time you are faced with a negative thought or challenging situation, whether or not you will allow it to control you OR if you will confront and conquer it.

The purpose of this blog post is to present you with practical tips and tools that you can use to CONFRONT and CONQUER your limitations and limiting beliefs.

If you have decided to take strategic action to confront and conquer your limitations and limiting beliefs, congratulations! You have just made a decision that will ultimately change the trajectory of your life. Because now, you are about to WORK to transform your mindset.

By implementing the following tips into your daily routine, you will begin to SEE results in your THINKING and in your overall perspective of your self, you circumstance and life itself.

What can you do to TRANSFORM your Mindset?

Meditation – You can find a number of guided and non-guided, verbal and subliminal an subliminal meditations and visualization exercises on YouTube for a variety of topics such as anxiety, stress, depression, mental or emotional healing, relaxation, energy boosting, self-love and confidence, client attraction and so much more!

Affirm Yourself – Affirmations can be extremely powerful IF you know how to utilize them in a way that will work for YOU. This is important, because many people just think of affirmations as a cliche’ quote that sounds good on the back of a book or as your caption for your Instagram and Facebook post. But, affirmations are so POWERFUL when you put them to work!

Here are a few ways you can get AFFIRMATIONS to work for you:

  • Choose 5 to 10 affirmations to write and speak out loud; with conviction/enthusiasm DAILY
  • Create affirmation Post IT Notes and to stick on your bathroom mirror
  • Download the Sticky Note app & post affirmations on your Laptop and Cellphone screen savers
  • Hack your social media news feeds by follow multiple pages that post multiple affirmations throughout the day
  • Listen to affirmations while meditating AND as you sleep *there are 8 hr affirmations on YouTube* This is a great way to re-program and transform your mind (subliminal) without having to do anything but SLEEP!

Move – Get your body moving! And while you do so, affirm yourself! You can do this a variety of way; but I’ll share what I do: I go to the gym, if I have a lot on my mind and I walk a mile around the track. As I walk, I rehearse the affirmations (goals) that I write out daily as I walk. If I’m feel low confidence, I affirm myself with affirmations specific to confidence. Sometimes I pray as I walk. Prayer is also a form of meditation.

Often times, when I’m battling thoughts of anxiety or depression, I go for a walk in the park and affirm myself. This way, I’m getting that Vitamin D and being around people without having one on one contact or having to socialize helps me during those times vs shutting myself indoors or finding comfort in my bed sheets. All I’m saying is, FIND what works for you and do it consistently.

Journal – This is a great way to clear your mind. You can make a list, you can keep it short or you can keeping writing until you feel a sense of clarity or relief. There doesn’t have to be any particular rule or format to follow. The awesome thing about it, is that it works.

Read self-help, personal growth and development books on Mindset. Authors and Experts I recommend studying are: Brian Tracy, Bob Proctor and Dr Carol Dweck. I also have a book called Empower You! Mindset Transformation: A Daily Devotional for the Mind that is a 70 Day Devotional geared towards shifting and shaping your mindset from a negative mindset to a positive, success “growth” mindset. Inside my book, I include a full list of authors/experts and books on mindset, success and personal development, that I have read and studied. In fact, everything that I share with you is based on what I have learned and applied to my own life.

My best advice is to choose multiple of these to try and begin rotating them throughout your week. Let’s say you choose to start meditating and journaling. You don’t have to meditate or journal every day.

By implementing a few of these activities into your daily routine, I believe that you will begin to not only become more self-aware, but you will develop a greater peace of mind, a positive success “growth” mindset and a more optimistic perspective in life!

This Is Why Your Plan Didn’t Work

It’s early Monday morning.. That dreaded Monday morning… You hear your alarm alerting you that it’s time to wake up and prepare for the day ahead. You hit the snooze button and drift back to sleep. 5 minutes later.. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP.. or maybe, you’re a little more sophisticated; you’ve got a good ole’ oldie or the latest Pop song as your ringtone.. but even that wasn’t enough to motivate you to get up and start the day.

You hit the snooze button that morning, not once, not twice, but three or four times. Until, finally, you’ve had enough of your sleep being disrupted by reminders that you’ve got to get up now if you wan’t any chance at arriving to work on time. You HATE, no you DESPISE Mondays, because it’s the beginning of another long, boring week of working a job where you are chasing someone else dream, building someone else’s empire.. doing something that you are good at, but are NOT passionate about.

Without that cup of coffee, you would not have made out your front door that morning. But you made it, you showed up with an emotionless smile, You work. You put forth your best effort. And, by the time you clock out, get through the rush-hour traffic and get home.. you feel empty and drained by just the realization, that in just a few hours, you’ll have to get up and do it all over again…

I know how it feels. Because that was me, not that long ago. However, I now work a corporate job I enjoy at a company I love AND I also spend my free time working on my SIDE HUSTLE that allows me to utilize my gifts, passion & purpose to empower others and building an empire and legacy of my own that will generate an income for myself and my family.

In my latest blog, I encouraged you to give yourself permission to DREAM big. Today, I encourage you to take it a step further! Don’t just dream big, but BELIEVE that your BIG dream is possible! If you are struggling to believe that it is possible, identify the limitations and limiting beliefs that are hindering your belief.

Not everyone has a BIG dream. Maybe, you’ve been experiencing an emptiness and longing to do more than work your day job, but you have no clue what you want to do.

OR

You’ve had this really big, impossible dream for awhile now, but you don’t know where you would even start.

OR

You already know that a dream without a plan is just a wish. So, you got to work and created a plan. You worked that plan and began seeing results. You gained momentum and until, suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, things began to fall apart.

Whatever your story may be, there is one thing I can say that applies to you:

You HAVE a purpose

You CAN do what you ENJOY and generate an income.

You CAN work a corporate job full-time and work your side-hustle too.

Your BIG dream IS possible, but you MUST have a plan.

And, not just any plan. You need to have the RIGHT plan.

The RIGHT plan will:

  • Have you prepared for limitations & limiting beliefs that can cause you to PAUSE or STOP the pursuit of your dream.
  • Have a support system and accountability
  • Have alternatives and solutions already in place

Many people GIVE UP on their BIG DREAMS, because they don’t have the RIGHT plan.

This week, I encourage you to create a plan. Start from where you are. If you don’t know what your dream (passion or purpose) is, then your plan may start with you taking the first steps to discovering what you dream (passion and purpose) is. If you already have that figured out but don’t know how to put it altogether in a way that will allow you to generate an income (build a business or side-hustle) around it, then you can start by taking the first steps to figuring out what you need to do or who you need to find/hire to help you figure it out! I’m telling you, my friend, there are resources out there that are free and many that are willing and ready to help you. No matter where you’ve gotta start, just start!

Goal Success Challenge: Day 7 – Identify & Create Positive Reinforcement

Welcome to Day 7 of the Goal Success Challenge!

For 1 week we’ve tackled 7 steps to setting and slaying our goals! We’ve begun to position ourselves for success in 2020!

We began by visualizing what our ideal life looks like. Then, we got clear on what goals we need to set and what steps we need to take to manifest our dream life. After which, we set strategic smart goals and created a plan of action – by breaking down our goal into small goals, identifying limitations and limiting beliefs and identifying possible solutions or alternatives. That eliminates any excuses upfront, for not getting started!

Don’t let 2020 be a repeat of 2019.

And, please, don’t transition into the New Year without a game plan!

Yes, you will face challenges in 2020. Yes, you will have a few disappointments and may experience a few setbacks. That’s life. But, with a positive mindset and a game plan, you can eliminate unnecessary or “extra” negativity from popping up.

Today, we are covering the final step on our Goal Success Checklist. We are going to identify and create positive reinforcement.

Identify WHO and WHAT will hold you accountable, motivate and remind you to pursue your goals.

Examples:

– Find an accountability partner

– Hire a coach or mentor

– Create a vision board/book

Choose/set as many as you need! And remember, what works for me, may not work for you, so choose what works for you!

If you were to be graded on the discipline you have in your life, would you score a 90% or above? Be honest. If the answer is no, then you need some form of accountability in your life.

There are many “smaller” ways to hold yourself accountable. I try to do so, as much as possible. It’s as simple as setting a date for your goals and each individual action step you take or keeping track of your goals and deadlines on a calendar/planner or Habit Tracker App.

Maybe you want to hire a coach or mentor, but don’t know where to look or can’t afford one at the moment. Like any goal, that would be considered a limitation. There is a solution or alternative, even when lack of money is the issue. You can start small. Start with books, YouTube videos by subject matter experts, etc. You may not be able to take the magnitude of steps that you want to right off the bat, but progress is progress. So, as long as you are CONSISTENTLY making moves that are in alignment with your goal, you’re good!

We have reached the end of the goal success challenge! I hope that you feel more prepared to slay your goals in 2020! You have the strategy to slay your goals in 2020. A strategy that works. But, here’s the thing… it WILL NOT work IF you do not have the RIGHT Mindset. This challenge has been all about providing you with the RIGHT GOAL & the RIGHT PLAN. But, my friend, if you don’t have the right minds.. A positive success “growth” mindset that looks for possibility when their appears to be none.. A mindset that is rooted in discipline and consistency.. A mindset where YOU believe that your goal IS possible… it won’t work.

The strategy works, if you make it work. It’s that simple.

7 Day Goal Success Challenge: Day 4 – Create an Action Plan

Welcome to Day 4 of our Goal Success Challenge!

Today is all about creating a plan of action!

To create your action plan, you’ll want to break down your goal into small action steps. Break it down into as many steps as possible. For each step, identify any limitation or limiting beliefs that you can think of. Then, for each limitation and limiting belief identify a possible solution (Plan B, C, D, etc.) or alternative. Set a date for each step if possible.

When you create your plan, approach it with the mindset of “flexibility.” The purpose of setting a date is to hold yourself accountable and serves as a way to track your progress. However, don’t be too hard on yourself, if circumstances arise that cause you to extend the date. Leave yourself a little wiggle room. We’re only human, things happen. The fact that you are identifying possible limitations and limiting beliefs and creating solutions or alternatives for them upfront is setting you up for success. You are giving yourself a much better shot at achieving your goal vs someone who will set a new year resolution and has no game plan at all. The benefit of having a flexible approach is that you can adjust and adapt as needed. Individuals who fail to do so, are more likely to give up on the pursuit of their goals.
