How to Finally Achieve Your Goals

92% of people who set New Year goals don’t achieve them. That means only 8% do. Are you a part of the 8%? If not, what can you do to change that?

Many people set goals. Not all see them through to completion. I am on a mission to empower as many people as I can, to not just clarify and set their goal, but to pursue it and see it through to completion. Often times, we start out strong but for a variety of reasons we get stuck or give up. We do a good job at focusing on the reasons WHY NOT. But, we don’t put as much energy into identifying a solution. So, I’ve told you that I’m on a mission right? To empower as many people as I can to pursue and achieve their 2020 goals. I will do this by providing an opportunity; an opportunity to learn THEE strategy to clarify, set and achieve your 2020 goals. Once you learn the strategy, you will be able to use it over and over and over again.. No matter how big or small your goal APPEARS to be, the strategy works. How so? Because the strategy I wish to share with you IS flexible. It allows you to embrace trial and error, but provides the support and foundation you need to see your goal through to completion. I am a certified Goal Success Coach. But, I will be the first to tell you that you don’t just need a goal. You need to clarify and set the right kind of goal AND you need a STRATEGY. And, not just any strategy, you need the RIGHT strategy.

I have discovered and outlined a strategy that has worked for me and has allowed me to achieve many of my goals! The reason I say MANY of my goals is because some of my goals are still a work in progress, but I am well on my way to achieving them, because I am still actively pursuing them. The reason many people fail to achieve their goals, is not because it’s impossible, but because they STOP pursuing the goal. The strategy I have outlined will help you keep going when you “feel stuck.” I am ready to share THEE strategy with YOU!

  • Launched my 3rd book
  • Booked multiple radio/podcast interviews to promote my book

Before 2018 and 2019…

  • Paid off credit card debt in full
  • Graduated with degree in 5 and 1/2 yrs after failing and retaking several courses multiple times, losing scholarships and taking out $60k in student loans
  • Moved out of my parents home into my 1rst apartment paying $900+ just for rent + other expnses while working less than 40 hours a week making $10 an hour
  • Overcame shyness and fear of public speaking
  • Became more confident
  • Learned to manage my depression and anxiety in a healthy way

Listen, it doesn’t matter how small or insignificant your goals may seem to anyone else. If IT matters to you, then it IS a goal worth pursuing and achieving!

Now, you may be wondering why I’d dare to share my strategy so freely, when I’m a coach launching a coaching business. I’ll tell you why. Even with the RIGHT strategy, sometimes you need SUPPORT in the form of a human. Yeah, I said it. Some of us need a coach, mentor, accountability partner.. someone! Not, just some THING to help you on your pursuit. And, I realize that not everybody has somebody in their corner giving the right balance of cheering them on and holding them accountable. As a Goal Success Coach, that is what I’ve been trained to do. So, I’m not worried out THEE Strategy or not so secret “Secret” being out there. Many people will “know” the strategy, but won’t implement the strategy without someone to hold them accountable. The Reason Why You’re Better Off Imperfect

Perfectionism can be a silent killer of dreams. Many people fail to pursue their goals because they allow perfectionism to hinder their progress. I’d like to refrain from painting the idea of perfectionism in a bad light, because in some aspects, perfectionism can be a positive thing. For instance, striving for perfection is a sign that you may have a success “growth” mindset. It means that you see room for improvement and therefore you are open for opportunities of growth and expansion. It’s also a good thing, because it’s likely that you desire to present quality content, products or whatever it is that you are working on.

There is nothing wrong with setting high standards for yourself. However, like anything else, there is a thin line that is easy to cross, if you’re not careful. If you’re not careful, your reason or excuse for not getting started, putting yourself out there or releasing your gift to the world can quickly turn into perfectionism. And, at the end of the day, all it is, is an excuse. Allow me to keep it real with you today. If you’ve put in the work, whether on yourself or on your project, whatever it may be, don’t continue to allow perfection to hinder you from launching any longer. Don’t strive to be perfect. Because, we don’t all define perfection the same. So, when it’s finally “perfect” in your eyes, I guarantee, someone, somewhere will have a differing opinion. So please, cut yourself some slack. Work hard, but don’t over think it.

If you’ve been putting off taking the next big step because you feel you’re not ready or things are not as good as they can be, consider this: You are better off imperfect. And, here’s why; Your flaws and imperfections is a blessing in disguise. Just as you are, you will attract those who are in alignment with your purpose. This means that, you and what you have to offer is not meant for everybody. It’s not perfect for EVERYBODY but it is perfect for SOMEBODY. Somebody will be drawn to you or your product because it’s meant for them, those who it is not for, or who aren’t ready for it will overlook it. They will take the opportunity for granted. So, I encourage you to embrace the flaws and all. See the beauty in the imperfection, and even if you don’t quite see it, launch anyway. Take that leap of faith, step outside of your comfort zone – pursue your goals, live your dream and live your life operating in your God given purpose!

4 Steps to Clarify What You Want in Life

Are you feeling confused about which direction to take in life? Do you know what you really want in life? I am about to share with you the 4 steps that you need to take to clarify what you really want.

Before you set any goal, before you create any plan of action, you first need to identify what it is that you really want. So, I am going to walk you through the steps to clarify what it is that you really want. That way, you don’t waste time taking unnecessary steps or investing in something that you don’t really want to invest in. We only get one life on earth, so let’s make the most of it!

The reason so many people feel stuck and lack a sense of direction in life is because they have not taken time to get clear about what they really want. Sure, they have a few ideas that sound good, but rarely are those ideas their own. Instead, they are ideas that other people have projected onto them, as innocently as “hey, I think you’d be great at such and such..” But, when it’s all said and done, it’s not really what he/she is passionate about. It’s not really what they want to do. So, the real question is, how do you identify exactly what it is that you want to do? What do you want to spend your time doing most? Because, let’s face it, it’s easy to get caught up in what sounds good or looks good on paper, only to soon find yourself unhappy. A common example of this is in the work place. I mean, how many people are really, honestly and truly happy with their career? How many people wake up without dreading what they’re about to spend the next 8 or so hours of their life doing? Not enough.

My hope is that you are not one of them. Not only that, but I want you to know that, that doesn’t have to be your story. It is possible, that you can wake up every day, looking forward to the days endeavors. But first, you’ve got to get clear about what you really want. And then, you can go about setting a goal and creating a plan that will give you the best possible shot at achieving what you want to achieve.

The 1rst step to clarifying what you want is to confront everything you think you want. This includes everything people have told you that you should do and want for yourself, etc. To do this, I encourage you to get in a quiet place, with a note pad (paper or on your cellphone or laptop) and create a list of everything that comes to mind. Try not to think too hard about it. Once you are done creating your list, get up and do something else.. Go wash the dishes, go for a walk, make a phone call.. Just do something else, but keep your mind off of the list. Once you’re done, go back and re-read your list. Accept what is on the list as “what was.” After you’ve done this, either throw away the list or delete it completely. Hopefully, you’ll find that you feel “free” of what you wrote down.

The 2nd step is to meditate. You have several options for this. You can do a meditation on your own, or you can go on YouTube and find a guided meditation to follow. You can also opt to download an app such as Calm or HeadSpace. Also, the meditation doesn’t have to be long. I’d suggest doing 5 to 15 minutes or however long you need. The point of taking this step is to clear your mind and to regain control of your thoughts.

The 3rd step is to complete a visualization exercise. Now, I have a specific visualization exercise that I will be using with my coaching clients. However, you can find many guided visualization exercises on YouTube. One that I recommend using can be found HERE. Completing a visualization exercise is an important step, because this is where you have a blank canvas and begin to dig deep and create your dream life. You, in a sense, use your imagination to create your ideal future, what that that looks like. You envision what you really want in a world where anything is possible and there are no limitations.

Note: In step one, you are confronting limiting thought/beliefs and releasing them. In step two, your’e creating a blank canvas. Step three is where you will discover and create. Then, you should be ready to identify what needs to be done to make your dream become your reality.

Step 4 is to write the vision and make it plain. This is where you transfer what you saw in your imagination onto paper. There are different ways that you can do this, however, two of my favorite ways are 1) Journaling and 2) Scripting. If you choose to journal, you are going to approach this as a freestyle activity. What I mean by this, is that you’re going to write about what you want freely. There is no particular structure to follow. Whereas, with scripting, you’re going to write as if it is happening in that very moment. So, you’ll say things like “I am” and “I have.” And, this is where you’ll begin to manifest what you want. The key to this step, whether you’re journaling or scripting, is to emotionally connect to what it is that you’re writing. Get in touch, using your senses and describe them in your journal/script. And, as you re-read what you’ve written, be sure to feel the emotions as if you already have what you want, as if you’re already living that life.

Once you have completed the 4rth step, you can choose to save or delete what you have written. But, after you’ve re-read it, put it away and walk away. Piggy-backing off of step one, you’ll want to release the desire into the atmosphere and trust God with it. Later, you can come back and set a strategic goal, create a plan of action and begin taking the necessary steps to make it happen!

The Secret to Slaying Your Goals

You have goals, dreams and aspirations! Right now, that is all they are. They are not your reality. Not, because you’re unwilling to do what it takes to make it your reality. But, for some reason you just can’t seem to make it happen. Somewhere along the journey to achieving your goals, you get stuck. Your goals, dreams and aspirations matter.. So, it’s time to get unstuck!

About 3 – 4 years ago, I had a lot of goals. I wanted to graduate college, get a better paying job, move into my own apartment, write and publish my 3rd book, deal with my depression, anxiety and suicidal ideations in a healthy way and more!

I wanted to graduate college, but I ended up doing an additional 1 + 1/2 year due to failing and having to re-take multiple courses. That, also resulted in my gpa dropping, losing my scholarships and taking out multiple student loans. After graduation, I was 23 years old and ready to move into my own place, except I was only working 1 job, working less than 40 hours a week, making $10 an hour. By that time, I’d already written and had 2 books published. I had a concept for my 3rd book, however I had writers block and a lack of motivation. And then, there was the depression, panic attacks and suicidal ideations that I battled all the while I was working as a BHT, working with adults with serious mental illness; supporting, advocating and educating clients on coping with their own anxiety and depression.

For every goal, there was a roadblock that initially stood in my way. The good news is that eventually, I achieved each of those goals. Every goal that I’ve been able to accomplish was because of one thing. Once, you know what it is and how to use it to your advantage, then you have a shot at achieving all of your goals!

I do believe that with God, absolutely anything is possible.

Things did not begin to shift in my life, until December of 2016 when I attended a 3 day Writers conference, that changed my life. I went in expecting to learn about writing and publishing a book, and I did. But, that is not what changed my life. What changed my life was the knowledge I gained about Mindset. I went in with one concept for my 3rd book and walked out with a whole new inspiration. Mindset Transformation. My 3rd book, Empower You! Mindset Transformation: A Daily Devotional for the Mind was inspired by my desire to share what I’ve learned with others.

The learning didn’t end at the conference, it was only the beginning. The books, courses, seminars and conferences that I’ve attended since then, have only increased my knowledge. I took what I learned, and began to apply it to my life. That is when I began to achieve my goals. And, I am ready to share with you what I believe IS the secret to slaying your goals!

How to Get Unstuck: Successfully Pursue and Achieve your Goals!

How to get Unstuck_

Did you make a resolution or set a goal(s) at the beginning of the year? If so, where are you now? Are you currently working towards your goal or have you already thrown in the towel? According to research, 80% of New Years resolutions fall through by February! Why is that?

Let’s be real, most goals come with its own set of challenges. It can be an uphill battle. But, I will tell you this.. The difference between those who successfully reach their goal and those who do not, is their mindset! They’re mindset is different. Different how? Glad you asked. I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “mindset is everything” countless times already. So much so, that it’s probably just another cliché’ to you. But, many cliché’s hold a whole lot of truth. As does this one. Your mindset determines whether or not you will be successful in life or not. A lot of times we place the blame, for our lack of success or consistency on luck, circumstances or other people. But, the truth is, we have more control than most realize. You have more control over your results/outcome than you realize.  People and circumstances, both the good, bad and the ugly, only have the power to influence. Influence what exactly? Our actions or inaction. How we react to the people and things that happen in our lives is what defines us. It’s not the event that defines who we are; it’s our reaction to it that defines who we are and determines our success or failure.

If you have found yourself giving up and throwing in the towel, when it comes to accomplishing your goals, then you may agree that you got stuck along the way. It’s not that the desire to reach that goal has dissipated. It’s just that life happened and influenced your inaction. Your inaction is a direct effect of your mindset.  In my new book, Empower You, I talk a lot about developing a positive, success mindset. I am sure that you set your goal for a reason. So, if you’ve temporarily put the pursuit of your goal on hold, then I encourage you to learn how to get unstuck! Too many people have lived and died, without going after their dreams. And, I am certain that a good amount of those individuals did not have a positive, success mindset and likely gave up when they got stuck , assuming that they tried at all. I’m just saying. With all that being said, I don’t want you to ever feel like you won’t ever be able to reach your goals because you feel stuck. Understand that pursuing your goal is a process. And, depending on the goal, it likely won’t happen overnight. Feeling stuck is a part of the process. Your success is dependent on your ability to overcome setbacks, overwhelm and feelings like feeling stuck! Here are 3 things that you can do to get unstuck!

Embrace Where You Are (1)

1) Unwind. Take time to relax and unwind. Do something that is unrelated to your goals and dreams, but is something that you thoroughly enjoy. Go on a staycation or vacation if possible. Do something or go somewhere that will allow for a change of scenery. I suggest doing this, because often times, getting a change of scenery and a change of pace can help to de-clutter your mind and relax mentally and emotionally. Relax your body and your mind should begin to relax as well. Try yoga, meditation or prayer. Try detoxing or going on a fast or cleanse. Sometimes, giving your physical body rest and re-boot can have a direct effect on your mentality as well. Put yourself in position to start fresh.

Embrace Where You Are

2) Embrace where you are. Be honest with yourself about where you stand in the pursuit of your goals. Take full responsibility for your actions or inaction. Acknowledge the problem or mistake. Instead of placing the blame on other people and circumstances, shine the light on yourself. Instead of deflecting and avoiding your reality and what it is that you really want to have or where you desire to be, face it. Embrace every experience that has led you to this moment in time, right here, right now. Accept it for what it is. A learning opportunity. Make up in your mind that you are going to move forward. Decide that you are going to keep going!

3) Shift your perspective. As mentioned before, mindset is everything! Your mindset is the sum of your attitude/beliefs about something or someone. How do you perceive your goal and your ability to pursue and accomplish that goal? If you are feeling like your goal is difficult to reach, then I suggest a do-over. Go back and re-write that goal and ensure that you have constructed a SMART goal. A SMART goal is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant or realistic and trackable! It’s okay to feel stuck. It is a part of the process. It is common. But, it is up to you to decide not to stay there. Getting stuck is often inevitable, but staying stuck is a choice! You have more control, more say-so in the matter than you may have realized initially. No one can pursue your dream for you. Don’t give people or circumstances more power over your goals and dreams than they really have. They only have as much power as you allow them to have. Really, they only have the power to influence your action or inaction.

Take back your power! Don’t stay stuck! Take action!
